Elastomer springs

Elastomer springs play a crucial role in your cutting and stamping tools. Placed on the side clamp, the force exerted by these springs ensures proper sheet metal retention during the downstroke phase of the punches. This force must be significant enough to guarantee sheet metal retention, ensuring the tool's efficiency. Explore our standard range available in stock!

MDL Brand Elastomer Springs

Elastomer springs provide a great alternative to wire springs as they have the advantage of not breaking. Moreover, they do not generate waste in case of wear, thus eliminating the risk of damaging the tool. We offer a wide range of elastomer springs available in stock with three levels of hardness.

Spring Design:

Our elastomer springs are made from Urelast material. This type of polyurethane possesses exceptional properties in load capacity, fatigue resistance, abrasion resistance, and compression behavior. Urelast also allows for smaller spring sizes compared to other rubber compounds, as it can support loads up to four times higher for the same size.

Load Classes:

Our elastomer springs are available in three different load classes, corresponding to the material hardness:

  • 70 Shore A maximum compression = 40% of Lo
  • 80 Shore A maximum compression = 35% of Lo
  • 90 Shore A maximum compression = 30% of Lo

Springs with 70 and 90 Shore hardness levels are already pre-cut, while 80 Shore springs are sold as hollow or solid jets.

Standard Dimensions of Our Elastomer Springs

Standard outer diameters: 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 63mm, 80mm, 100mm, 125mm

Standard lengths: 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 63mm, 80mm, 100mm, 125mm, 160mm

We also manufacture custom-made springs for your special requirements.

How to Choose Your Elastomer Spring?

When choosing an elastomer spring, several parameters must be considered. The first step is based on the tool's stroke and the required force. These elements help determine the following three parameters:

  • Spring diameter
  • Free length
  • Load (Rate) in daN/mm

For elastomer springs, it is also important to consider that when they are compressed, their outer diameter increases. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a housing with a sufficient diameter, taking this expansion into account.
